14th August 2015
The children and Diyas of Auro Mirra, gathered at the school lawns on the morning of August 15th, to celebrate India’s 68th Independence Day. The day’s program started with the usual silence, which was followed by the hoisting of our National Flag by Havinder Didi. This was followed by the national salute and the National Anthem. Children spoke, in various languages about the significance of the day and of the martyrs who gave up their lives to show us the light of freedom. They then expressed their love for their country through a melodious song. Following this, Sachith of Allamanda group, left us mesmerised with his flute recital of ‘Vande Mataram’. Children of Daisy group, dressed in traditional attires of the different Indian states, gave a truly enthralling dance performance, and displayed the true essence of ‘unity in diversity’, the very virtue that has been the biggest strength of our country. The day’s events were rounded up with a drill and a gymnastics performances by the Balsam, Catharanthas and the Calendula groups. On a closing note, Harvinder didi, left us all with questions like, “What freedom truly means?, “Are we all truly free?”, to ponder upon..
