Ramadan Eid was celebrated in AMIS on the 17th of July with simplicity, keeping in mind the purity of the month. Some children and didis were seen in their ethnic and traditional wear. The celebration began with a beautiful Urdu prayer “Lab pe aati hai dua” sung by the choir. The children then shared information about the festival, enlightening us all on the significance of fasting and prayers. A verse from the Holy Quran was read out by one of the students which beautifully brought forth the importance of fasting and prayers during the holy month of Ramazan, which is considered to be auspicious and sacred, by the Muslims. The children also recited the ‘namaz’ (prayers) with appropriate actions and demonstrated how Eid is celebrated by greeting and wishing each other ‘Eid Mubarak”. The celebration ended with the distribution of dates to all the children and diyas.
